CHEF MAURICIO ORTIZ

Graduated from the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Puebla, specialized in Mexican-Mediterranean fusion cuisine. Lover of new ingredients and techniques from different cultures to explore new sensory experiences.
Some of my work adventures have taken place in: Spain, Italy, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Argentina and Singapore.
And my journey never stopped! I am here now to share with you my culinary adventures and, hopefully, become a tasty souvenir of your visit to Mexico.

   Verificada Omg! Book with Mauricio! I was nervous about booking a chef and having less food in the Tulum streets, but I’m so glad I did! We had the shrimp tostada, beef empanada and stuffed fish. Everything was delish and smelled just as amazing! I will def book with him again.

   Verificada Chef Mauricio did a phenomenal job. The food was not only delicious, but he was very kind and knowledgeable of the area and was able to give us a few recommendations on places to try/visit.    Verificada Mauricio cooked my partner and I dinner for Valentine’s Day and it did not disappoint! Easily one of the best meals we’ve had here. Everything was so fresh and flavorful - we especially loved the tropical sea bass ceviche! Mauricio was able to prepare the four course meal in the small kitchen in our Airbnb and left everything clean and tidy.    Verificada If you have the opportunity to book one of these meals, don't think twice. An amazing meal in the comfort of our own house. I'm vegan and they made an incredible menu including vegan cheese substitution/vegan cake / etc. was super easy with our little kids to not have to worry about them in a busy restaurant.

   Verificada We loved Chef Mauricio. He served tuna tartare, sea bass ceviche, tuna steak, and crème brûlée for a late dinner that he generously accommodated our needs on as we were coming in late from Cozumel. Every bite was delicious and we stuffed our faces. It was so good we spontaneously invited him back for breakfast the next morning. He was gracious with us when we had to reschedule our first booking due to rain/not making a flight. We’re glad we rescheduled with him! He also did not ask for a tip which was refreshing because we get asked that by everyone at every activity we do. We tipped him anyway but it was nice that he gave us the choice rather than forcing it on us like everyone else.
